From the beginning of time, an inexplicable urge, at times sharp and clear and sometimes indistinct and vague, compels human beings to pursue the meaning of human existence on Earth. When unfulfilled, this drive is converted to the pursuit of “more” – of everything: more love, more money and pleasure, more physical and mental health, more knowledge. Yet even when more and more of all these are achieved, the Big Question still vibrates: What for? What is the meaning of man’s life here? What is mankind’s purpose?

These questions arise in full force whenever one experiences difficulty, pain and suffering, and   towards the end of one’s life, or that of his loved ones.

The classical sacred writings of the various religions, give no information that can help to decipher the meaning of life. For example, in the story of creation in the Bible:  “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”. Nowhere in the bible, does it explicitly say WHY …however,  much is written in the annals of leadership, philosophy, thought and knowledge, about the question of HOW we should conduct ourselves in this world, in a manner most, becoming ,befitting  and deserving.

The cardinal guidelines for life’s journey, have always been a commendation to live a life of love, giving and acceptance, flowing with whatever comes to pass, guiding our thoughts and feelings to conversion of the negative to positive. We are taught to care for body and soul, and to constantly keep watch to expose the illusion of separate existence in order to heal obstructions in order to connect with our loving and guiding inner self, higher than our daily self. However, usually the reason for our living here, in this world, and why we must experience pain and suffering along with all the good and the pleasant, is omitted.

In light of the assumption that the existence of mankind is not a random occurrence, and that indeed there is an organizing binding comprehensive principle, and in light of the assumption that the meaning of human existence was kept a secret until our time, but is now in the process of revelation, the book Nineveh was written.

Thinkers and teachers throughout the generations, and particularly in the New Age, have focused on the individual’s quest for the meaning of life; recommending, justifiably, to independently define from within, the meaning of one’s own life. Nineveh adds a concept which invites us to understand the meaning of human existence in a comprehensive context, in correlation with which, an individual can more clearly define and shape the meaning of his own personal life. The components of Experiment, Experience and Exploration

[1] – as the interpretation of the meaning of existence of the individual and the collective, offers the readers an extensive contribution and a unique point of view, by means of which life may be-

  • A continuous experience of inner strength – which joyfully shapes growth and development through learning and remembering
  • Filled constantly with the understanding of the body as a dwelling, and the importance and desirability of getting to know its senior guests
  • An abundance of brotherhood and commitment,- of compassion for all
  • Blessed in serenity , studded with moments of calm and quiet even in the heart of the clatter
  • Flowing in a continual present moment, charged with meaning and rich with love, beauty, harmony and creativity
  • Resplendent with insight concerning most of the daily question- big and small.

A Contribution to the Improvement of Life on Earth

Wishes for Shosh Zimmerman on the occasion of NInveh's English publication

(from The Students' Portfolio given on the eve of Lag Ba'omer 2014, as a tribute for the book Ninveh)

Our Dear Shosh,

Your book Ninveh is one of the most important books written on the subject of spirituality:

It reveals our purpose in life on this planet-

the meaning of our life as humans on earth,

and clarifies the experiences our souls came to experience,

to live here in happiness and leave Earth purer.

While reading one feels as though more and more doors are opening

and everything becomes clear and understood.

It is as if you had been living in a mist-surrounded cave and now it is evaporating.

the deeper you go into the words – the further you reach the blinding light of love and comprehension.

Until now only a small Hebrew speaking group could enjoy the wisdom written in the book.

Now, with its publication in English, it will reach thousands of people world-wide,

who will be able to add something new to their lives, spread lights of spirituality around,

and contribute to the improvement of life on earth.

For all of this – may you be blessed, our spiritual councilor and guide.

We wish you great success in distributing your English book Ninveh.

Although we won't be taking part in the event, we are with you and the whole community in spirit.

With thank you for all we receive in each gathering.

Loving and admiring you.

Shula Regev, on behalf of the group of Natanya

From the Translator

by Leonie Barel

As the translator of this book, I found that working with it gave me a profound understanding of the meaning of life, love and the connectivity between all and everything. Translating this book gave me deeper insight into my purpose in life.

Read the book from the heart, though it is intellectually stimulating, it taught me to bypass the mind and let go of criticism and judgement and to make a huge change in my life, in my self esteem and in my abilities.

If you want to live the life you were meant to live, I recommend starting by reading this book!

About Ninveh

By Sharon Shatz

Many spiritual paths give us hints as to HOW to live (well/righteously/happily)- sacred scripts of different religions, various eastern philosophies, – but none answer the question: WHY do we live, what is the purpose of life.

-As for myself- I hadn’t found a satisfactory answer for myself other than the answer: the purpose of life is life itself. That is- until I encountered the spiritual teachings presented in this book. Granted, I was familiar with these teachings before the book came out. After searching for answers for many years through various paths- western philosophy, Tibetan Buddhism, Kabbala, Daoism – I finally found teachings that gave me a thorough and integrative picture- which was able to explain the various aspects of life and experiences I had, in a way that no other path had shown me. Although the concepts of this path, presented in this book, can be said to be "just another theory, another story"- for me it was a comprehensive one, encompassing all, finally explaining the WHY- why do we live, what is the meaning of living and how can i apply these answers to my daily life. From the day I started implementing the understandings I gained – my life started changing immensely for the better.

This book describes the journey we as souls – manifested within a material body- take, how this journey came to be, its purpose, and how we can- once we are aware of the purpose- live our lives more fully.

I highly recommend this book to all those who are seeking for answers as to the meaning of life. It is not a simple read- it requires several readings in order to grasp the multiple insights shared. I find myself going back to it again and again, each time discovering deeper levels of understanding.
